Yea the front dshalfs joint is no regreaseable, sits between the cat's, and dries out. Once it starts to go, it can be rather bad lol. You can go easy and expensive and buy a new shaft with the updated/greaseable joints, or try to replace just the joints with some kits out there.
the headgaskets are notorious... a few factors have been blamed for thier clockwork failure... proneness for the alum engine to run hot, VERY old engine design, very underpowered for the vehicles weight class, and first time owners (probably do to the uppety nature and high sticker price) probably didnt service the vehicles as they should have been. Also, the dexcool coolant in there has a bad reputation for being too acidic and slowly eating away the gasket material. plus it reacts poorly with traditional coolant, so a mistake mix or top off results in slugy build up and deposits which can clog up the system, make the radiator far less effecient, clog the thermostat and cooling channels, wear out the waterpump, increase system pressure yadda yadda yadda. just, get rid of that too
only other major common problem is the ABS servo thingy, but its a relitively cheap and easy fix. its a sensor that tends to have break fluid wear into it over time, shorting it out causing the "three amigos" symptoms where you have the downhill decent light, ABS and Brake light on all the time and limited or no ABS/traction control depending on how bad it is. there is a device called the ABS Amigo which some people have here for purchase/rent/borrow to get a true diagnosis of brake problems, but that seems to be the major case. you can either replace the sensor, or perform a perminate fix where you run a few wires outside the unit in a relitively simple "operation".
oo.... they tick like mad, there are lots of reasons why. chase them and go broke, ignore them and drive happy! some ticks are far worse then others...so non usual and new ticks should be still investigated of course! alot of people switch to a high zinc engine oil such as Rotella (which has a stronger reputation then jesus in some circles).
annnnd if you have the air suspension system, they tend to develop slow leaks, which blow out the compressor as it tries to continusouly run to make up for the loss... or the bags can pop or burst on some terrain in glorious fashion so some people get rid of them in favor of standard coil systems... but DAMN do those airbags ride NICE if you got em and can live with them!
