new guy w/ quick belt ? - searched
I am going to replace the belt on my 01 Diso II but am unsure which one I need. There is one for w/ ACE and one for w/o ACE. How do I know if I have active cornering or not?? I have searched more than just this forum and have spent quite enough time today on the computer and under the Rover.........was still kinda fun though.

You don't know what options/features your truck has, if not, I would stay at home all day and crawl all under it and thru the engine compartment till you have a better idea what you are driving.
Why are you replacing it, when was the last full major service done on it?
Have you also had your front drive shaft rebuilt/replaced?

This one threw me for a loop early on as well. And yes, I had no clue about my options, or vehicle history, that's another story. But the way to tell if you have active cornering is to look at the power steering reservoir. If there are two fill caps and one looks like a steering wheel, you have it.
Another way to tell is to look at the sway bar ends, if you have it you will have a hydraulic ram on passenger side, very noticeable.

Thanks for all the help. I assure you, I have spent many hours outside in the cold getting to know this vehicel inside and out. I have only had it 3 weeks and it is my first one. I am learning more and more about it everyday. I have no knowledge of its previous history so I am bringing it in to a certified Rover mechanic next weekend for its 60k check as I am unsure it was ever done via previous owner. There are 92k on it and the belt is REALLY cracked, also doing the water pump as it is leaking very bad when parked, so doing the belt at the same time.

Totally wrong, ACE was an $1800 option that did not come standard with all vehicles with 18" wheels, same with SLS.

You are looking at a $1000 plus service if done properly and at some shop, $1500 plus if done by the dealer.
Here is the list, think you can do the service if it will save you $700 plus???????
1 Oil filter, K&N 3001 or Mobil 1- 301
1 Factory air filter
6 Qts. of engine oil
2 feet of 3/16th vacuum tube
2 feet of 5/16th vacuum tube
12 Qts. of ATF
7 Qts. of 80/90W synthetic gear oil, 85W/140 for HD use
3 Pints of synthetic DOT 4 Brake fluid
2 Qts of synthetic Power steering fluid
2 Gallons of OAT, orange coolant, also called DexCool
1 Bottle of Lucas Power Steering additive
1 Bottle of Lucas Transmission additive
1 Can of Spray Carb. Spray
1 Can Of Brake cleaner
8 Spark Plugs, I use Bosch Platinum Plus 4's
1 Set of Magnacor 8mm plug wires
1 Serpentine belt
2 Bottles of SeaFoam gas additive
1 T/Stat
1 bottle of WaterWetter or Purple Ice
Hoses and belts, as necessary
60,000 Mile Service or Major Service for High Mileage Used Vehicle just purchased
Bleed the brakes
Flush and change the power steering fluid adding one bottle of additive
Service the tranny adding one bottle of additive
Change the coolant and t/stat
Do an engine flush before changing the oil
Do an induction cleaning
Clean the throttle body
Add fuel additive to full gas tank
Change both of the diffs fluid
Change the t/case oil
Replace the plugs and wires
Replace the air filter
Lube all the drive shaft grease fitting including the 2 slip shafts
Do full inspection of brakes, hoses, bushings etc.
Hopefully I didn't leave anything out.
Yeah, I get it......I wont get hired as a mechanic anywhere or anytime soon, not that I would want to be one. But I have learned, or was "guided" by Saab & VW forums for my other current vehicles the past five years and have done some pretty major repairs on them. I didnt know how to replace a clutch kit in a Saab 9000 without messing something up or missing something off the top of my head, but with help from searching those forums, I was able to read up look at pictures and I got it done in an afternoon/evening. Saved a ton of money there, $300 for parts and did everything myself with my buddy, who is not a mechanic either.
I appreciate the help these forums offer and understand why people who know everything about their vehicles cant believe how people can ask or say certain things, I have gotten it in the past from VW/Saab forums, and I can certainly take it. Now that I know those vehicles, I too can offer help to people who are new to them as I once was. Land Rover is new to me and I'm sure I can do all the work that is on the list that you mentioned should be done, not a problem, just want to make sure I do it right.

Well, with only being guided as to what size belt I needed, I have done the following:
Replaced gear cover gasket
Replaced water pump and gasket
New Serp belt
New T-stat
New top radiator hose upgrade w/ bleeder screw
New MAF sensor
New Tensioner
New Idler pulleys
Changed Tranny Fluid
Changed gear box fluid
Oil change
New oil pan gasket
New air filter
New oil seal
Probably took me longer than it should have but it is done, and according to my friends cousin who is a LR mechanic I saved a bundle doing it myself! Runs like new and not a single leak (major coolant leak from gear cover).
