Default Please Help soon ...New Buyer

Folks great info and need help.

I have 2 Discovery II I am looking at. 2001- 96K for 6500$
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=78&pageNum ber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage= 0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending& certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-|E-|M-_26_|D-_255_|N-N|R-30|I-1%2c7|P-PRICE+descending|Q-descending|Z-80218&aff=national&paId=137112411&recnum=16&leadEx ists=true

or maybe less.

2002- 84K for 7988$.

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=78&pageNum ber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage= 0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending& certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-|E-|M-_26_|D-_255_|N-N|R-30|I-1%2c7|P-PRICE+descending|Q-descending|Z-80218&aff=national&paId=137109427&recnum=13&leadEx ists=true

The problem is the 2001 has new tires and a little better interior but hard to not take the miles and pay a little more. The 2002 needs new tires soon. Both are in great shape/drive well etc. just some cosmetic stuff that is weaker on the 2002.

Is there really much difference between these miles??

Please any thoughts??? Thanks soooo much for the help!

you can do better. Gave $7000 for a clean 55,000 miles 03 HSE. They are out there.

X2 on that. Seems a little high. The 02 is a more desireable color and has a brush guard, but I wouldn't worry to much on the mileage. I have 167K and 107K on this engine setup. If there are no knocks or ticks and you keep you oil changed, you are looking at most $1500 for head gaskets...

Ditto...A year ago, I bought a 2002 with 78,000 miles for $6200 on Ebay. Try to find some private sellers instead of dealers.

Also the 02 has 18" rims. Look great as I have the same rims but tires are 150% more expensive when it's time for rubber. Once my truck becomes mine again once my wife gets her new car I will be putting a set of black 16" on my rover so I can get some better tire options with the lift I have planned. But as listed before if you like the brush guard get one with it because they aren't cheap.

Good luck,
Merritt

Where are you located? Here is a 2001 in Ft Worth.

Ditto on keep looking. Just bought a 2000 with 70K for 5500 from a dealer...Great shape, may have a couple engine issues, but the deals are out there, Dealers are hurting too. If it was a trade in, they probably paid nothing for it. low ball them at the end of the month, you'll get it.

Only other thing is the 2001, depending on VIN date, may have the CDL nipple in the transfer case. 2002 and 2003 do not.

You can definitely find better prices for similar vehicles if you look around a little longer. I make it a rule to never buy a vehicle that needs new tires right away, especially at top dollar like is being asked for those trucks. The mileage shouldn't really concern you since the first thing you need to do regardless of what vehicle or mileage is to go through Disco Mike's 60K service list.
