Default New hubs

I have recently noticed on Ebay, discovery 2 hubs selling for new at the price of around $60. And have seen some for around $150. Is there any difference in quality? I mean 4 hubs at $200!! Too good to be true??

I bought 2 of the ebay hubs. No problems so far. I bought these for $77 each.

There was a thread circulating around LandRoversOnly discussing the difference between the cheap hubs and those of higher quality. People are getting 3-amigos with certain, cheap hubs because the toothed ring in the hub that activates the sensor actually has at least 1-less tooth than the OEM and creates havoc within the ABS and TC system. You should at least do a search so that you can avoid the units known to be incompatible with the SLABs.

I've used three of the eBay hubs now without issue. I did have to have one replaced, but it was a manufacturing defect and they replaced it without question. Definitely recommended. No three amigos issues, either.

I have two of these. This seller is good and no problems with Amigos or otherwise.

I can't believe that somehow, some machine shop would go cheap and exclude an extra tooth or so. That would throw off the size, wouldn't it?

If I recall, the tooth ring that the ABS sensor picks up on is actually on the axle/half shaft. The hub should not affect it, at least in that manner.

I've never had ABS issues to sort out so I have no experience to speak of. The hub slides onto the splined axle shaft. When you look into the location of the sensor when it is removed, you definitely aren't seeing an axle shaft. There are other components within called reluctor rings or toner rings that the sensor itself is reading and feeding to the computer. The shaft is only a splined shaft, nothing else.

Attached image: nothing but splines on the end to attach a hub. The hub houses everything needed to signal the TC and ABS. These aftermarket hubs can be designed and manufactured differently than OEM. Aka the discussion attached in my first reply.

I stand corrected. It might be D1 or P38 I had in mind. I'll check my shelf on Monday.

Thanks
