Default replacement key

I just ordered the below, I am hoping it works as predicted. Cut the new on and the internals from mine.

Ignition tumblers get worn due to keys on your keyring going up and down with the bumps.

You can get copied keys to work - but you need to hold the key straight into the ignition and then mess with it by wiggling and turning slightly - not too much pressure
until it turns.

Irritating.

I've had hundreds of blanks made for ignitions over the years. I use the Ilco RV4P as the blank. I used to have them cut at my local True Value Hardware Store. However, their machine is getting on in age and we were getting a 50% failure rate. The hardware store in the next town has a brand new cutting machine. With that one the failure rate is negligible.

My advice is to find someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to cutting keys and it helps if they're not using a machine from the 1970's. Also, my experience with going to the dealer to have them cut a key from a VIN or key code has not been great. I've have a 50% success rate with having keys cut that way.

FYI, this key does not work, the shank is too short.

The seller is keyshell-ann on ebay.

That's what I used. The shoulder on the key is a little short, so the Key Cutter will need to adjust that when they are cutting the key, but it will work. I went to a Key Cutting shop here in town. That's all they do, and they were competent enough to get it done right the first time. He had to manually set the key in the holder due to the shoulder being wrong.

ONLY complaint I have with this key is the size. It's hard to have in my pocket with two other Remote Keys one is also flip. Three is definitely my limit in jeans along with my other keys. I always look like I'm too happy when I show up places.

I went to a actual locksmith to cut it, asked if we could slide it further up like that and he said it would not work. So, he cut it the best he could and it was still 3-4mm too short.
live and learn, still looking for a new key.

Yeah, these guys measured it before cutting and moved it up the correct amount. They said it was not normal and may not work, but they hit it just right. PS: They cut the shoulder higher during the cut.
