Default New to Land Rover Key Question

I just purchased my first Land Rover it's a 99 Discovery II and need another key. What is the process to make sure the key you purchase will start the vehicle? I have been looking on ebay and they have several blank keys but I was not sure if they would work. Also can you purchase a key with the keyless entry and get a blank to fit it?

Do you just want a key or do you want a new FOB, key with remote?
If you just want a key, those can be picked up at any dealer or key shop, if you want the remote then find a 2 button one on e-bay.
Either way, you will need to get the key code from the dealer and have it cut. With the remote you will then need to have the dealer reset you keys to the ECU with their test book.

I would like to have key remote.

So I can buy an old two button key that has been cut and a blank for it and have the dealer program it?

THANKS

I am in the same boat and the dealer told me that the keys on ebay may or may not have the code they need to program it to your truck. He said they run about 50/50 with success. The key with remote at the dealer is $120 + $60 for programnming, so I think he really just wants me to buy his (more expensive) key. If you have good luck with getting one off of ebay, let me know as I am about to take that plunge also.
