Default New to Land Rovers...

I am in the hunt for a new SUV... I have been a long time fan of the Disco's... And have been lurking around the forums for sometime now. I noticed that someone mentioned its good to know what the purpose of the vehicle will be used for.. so here it goes.
I need something able to tow a small boat (17-21 ft center console) Wont be doing much long distance towing, just in and out of the water, few miles round trip.
Be used for a daily driver, and some moderate off-roading on the occasion.
From what I have seen, I think a D-1 is the best choice for me, easier to maintain if I am not mistaken? I have also been looking in to a 93-96 Bronco, and for now, the Bronco and the D1 Disco are at the top of the list.
I lurk around a few other forums (rx7club.com and crossfireforum.org) so I know that these post get old, but I PROMISE I searched, and have found lots of helpful info, but the best way to get good input is to ask.

-Few things Ive noticed.. What up with the head gaskets and valve seals? Is there an easy fix for the head liner issues?

Head gaskets are predominatly a DII issue, from the Organic Acid Coolant not being maintained properly and then eating away the head gaskets. DI's came with the good old fashoend cat killing green stuff.

I have a 94 DI and Its great, you can expect 12-14 mpg in town and 16-18 mpg on the highway, thats not to bad, but they also dont like cheap gas, so be prepared for the extra expense of premium fuel. The 94 has a distributer cap and rotor, 95 on were electronic ignition. My 94 came with a 3.9 V8 but later models had more displacement.
I am spoiled because mine only has 56,000 but it is one of the most comfortable vehicles Ive ever owned, I have a bad back and just took a 2,500 mile road trip and had no adverse effects from sitting in the truck for 9 hrs at a time. Ford seats I am pretty sure you couldnt say that about.

you can pick up the little cork screw headliner tabs at most auto parts stores for a few dollars. Mine only needed a few and they aren't that noticeable but if your whole headliner was sagging it might look tacky to have 50 of them holding up your headliner.
