I just received new leather boots for my transfer case and e brake levers. Can someone tell me which way the boot seam or stitching should face on the transfer case lever?

Is it front to back,..........or.........side to side?

Where did you buy them and are they genuine leather? All the ones I've seen are vinyl. If I could find leather, I'd buy them. My transfer case shifter boot is fine, but my brake lever boot is badly worn.
