Default New LR Disco Owner needs some advice.

I recently purchased a 1994 LR Disco. Ibought it from the origionalowner with only 72,000 miles on it. The body and interior is in excellent condition and the engine runs great. The only problem is that the front end vibrates bad when I hit about 70 mph onthe highway. I had the tires rotated and balanced, and they are fairly new tires, but that didn't help. Any suggestions? Also, is there anything ya'll would recommend goingahead andreplacing? The exhaust is kinda rough so I'm gonnareplace that soon, but I was wondering about anything else. This is the only LR I've owned and I am loving it. Itis a solid vehicle, I just need some help keepingit running and keeping a step ahead of the maintenance. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like it needs a new steering damper to me, cheap to buy and simple to fit

Thanks for the tip. Is there any way for me to tell if the steering damper is bad before replacing it? Will I be able to get one from an autoparts store or will I have to go through a dealer? Any other help would be great. Thanks.

Any thing over 40,000 miles on a factory steering stabilier and it is shot, should be looking at a new OME when you can. This isn't causing the problem but is drsigned to mimimize it.
Most likely you have a bad tie rod, bushings or the swivels/front bearings, need to be rebuilt and set.
You got a nice low mileage vehicle, and it is going to need alot of work before it will be road ready. How mechanical are you?

My father and I are fairly mechanical. I'm hoping to do most of the work with my father. Where do you think I should start?
