So right now I drive a 99 4runner. I am a mechanic at a Toyota dealer and I'm seriously considering selling my 4runner for a discovery II. I have a couple questions before I do I was hoping you guys would help me out with.

What years are the best for the disco II?

Anything I should look out for?

Do any of them have locking diffs?

How expensive are the parts for it compared to a Toyota?

What are some good websites for aftermarket parts?

I'm sure I'll think of more questions but these are good to start with. Thanks for all your help to the people that do. I'm really looking forward to possibly getting a discovery!

Some VIN range had problems with oil pumps. Posted in a number of places.

Rovers North, and everyone else is cheaper. Atlantic British, British Pacific, and many more sites.

Use your scanner to see real coolant temps, gauge is built to be an idiot light with a pointer. IMHO a pre-inspection with exhaust-gas-in-coolant test would be a very good idea, head gaskets are a common issue.
