New to the LR world have a few issues to work out
Hi everyone. I just bought my first Land Rover. IT's a 95 Discovery black on tan. It's got a few issues to work out. It's was super dirty but I have detailed the hell out of it so it's nice and clean now, the po was an effing pig.
Issue #1. - Intermittent stalling after warm start up. It will start then teh revs drop and it stalls unless I rev it up. Sometimes it'll start up again and do the same thing and one time it actually just kept turning over and I could smell gas. I let it sit and it fired up......
#2). The tranny doesn't shift out of 1st gear until it warms up.... Does it need a new filter and fluid?
#3) rear windows don't work. I'll try the redsolder this week
#4) Central locking doesn't work.... I heard a computer controls this?
Over all I love the truck though. Can't wait to get my hands dirty. Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers

Start by giving it a complete tune up, thats new plugs and wires and a cap and rotor.
You are flooding it and that is why you smell gas, let it sit and it drys a little and she fires right up.
Make sure you use Magnecor plug wires and a Land Rover cap and rotor.
Also make sure your vacuum advance is hooked up on the base of the distributor.
After you get the tune up done then adjust the ignition timing.

Yeah I will for sure do a tune up although I think something else going on. I am going to change the tranny filter and hope for the best. It full of fluid and it's red although a little dirty. It looks like the crossmember under the tranny hasn't ever been off so I can make a wild guess at how old the tranny filter is...
