Short time follower and avid reader for guidance…
Just moved from 98 DI to a 2001 DII and love it but the disco I purchased has some issues and I need some guidance.
I purchased a 2001 disco II with 112000 miles. The vehicle is in great shape but has a few issues.
For starters the SRS light is on (red). It came on after I purchased (when I pulled into our drive)…go figure!
Now for the list:
ABS light is amber
TC light is amber
Hill decent light is amber...I know this list is considered the three amigos and have been reading some about some of the issues. The seller said he had just had the breaks done when the ABS light illuminated.
The cruise control doesn’t work.
The radio doesn’t work. I can hear the speakers hiss but the radio is dead. I believe it to be an R990 series.
The passenger side doors front and rear and rear access door will not cycle lock or unlock. I can do either manually but not electronically. The driver’s side functions correctly whether by key or lock button. I can hear the lock mechanism make noise when cycle the power locks but the lock doesn’t move. The actuator has power to the lock. I did check a power check today.
The rear sunroof does not operate. Again, I hear the motor cycle but nothing happens.
The rear ac only runs when the ac button is pushed. I believe the fan should cycle in either setting.

Is there something I am missing down the right side of the vehicle? I have checked the fuses and all seem to be okay. Could all be coincidentally bad motors and radio?
Just scratching my head… Any help would be appreciated.

 

... how much did you pay for this truck? you have some work ahead of you.

first take care of the three amigos. get your hands on an ABS amigo and get the fault codes back to us so we can diagnose what is really causing your problem.

the srs light is a PITA... check the grounds for the seatbelt locking mechanism. thats the easiest start. if that doesnt work then it could be a seatbelt pretensioner or an air bag.

your cruise control most likely has a vacuum leak check under the bonnett and see if the CC hose is cracked.

i don't know **** about radios,... leave that up to Rover Chris.

the passengar side doors my guess is the lock actuators are shot. take the door panels off and see for yourself. the rear door is just frozen. pop the LR symbol off the outside of the gate and spray it with some penetrating spray and work the handle for about 5 mins keep spraying and working it will open. pop the LR symbol back on and ur good 2 go...

your sunroof .. check that its on the tracks and all screws are tight,.. my guess is the motor is shot but check the simple things first to save $...

cant help with the rear AC... never experienced it.

Sorry for the late reply. I have been buusy with a new job. Thanks for the advice guys...I have read several post the explains some of my issues and provides some basic guidance. I will do some workthis weekend and post back up.
