Default New to me 04 SE7

So I posted over in the "new member" forum, but I thought I would say HI here as well to all the Disco people. I am the pround new owner of an 04 SE7 and am loving it! 45K miles on it and has every dealer service documented.

My only complaint is last night while coming to a stop from about 15 mph the dreaded 3 amigos poped up. but were gone this morning when I started her up. Could this have just been a dust issue? Anway, I have an apointment at the dealer monday morning to get it checked out. Gotta love warrantys.

So any advice on what to keep my eye on is appreciated from all you experts here. I have been strolling through the forum and am finding some good advice, butalot of itseems to be tailored to the DI.

Thanks for a great forum, look fwd to getting to know you all as get to know my new (to me)Rover.

Welcome to our humble little forum.
There is one thing that you MUST have done, and that is having the front driveshaft rebuilt with grease fittings. It did not come with any from the factory and when the double cardon joint fails it will grenade your transmission.
As long as the truck is under factory warrenty I wouldnt worry about it.
You MUST use premium gas.
Have the coolant flushed every 45,000 miles or 3 years, whichever is sooner. Flush the brake fluid every 2 years.
Read the owners manual front to back and then back to front.
Any questions just shout.

Hmm, grease fittings? I will look into that. my factory warranty is up the 24th of this month, but I do have an extended warranty through zurich, which according to my local LR Dealer is an easy company to deal with. Wish I could have gotten the extended factory deal but I bought the rig from a saturn dealer.

thanks for the advice Spike.

You can look for the grease fittings by crawling under the truck and looking/feeling around the double cardon and u-joints on the front driveshaft.
Make sure that you read the fine print on the extended warrenty. I dont know anything about this Zurich company.
Some extended warrenties wont let you make mods to the truck, others will. You just need to read the fine print very carfully making sure that you understand it.
So somebody got tired of paying for gas and bought a Saturn huh? They probally bought a Ion no less.
www.roverlandparts.com has used head units. Now lets hope the PO didnt cut any wires.
www.atlanticbritish.com for all your new parts and accessories.

My 3 amigos have been coming on and off since Jan whne I bought mine. If the pads are throwing a lot of dust , like mine, thye will go off coming to a stop after squealing. Just hose them off till next time.

My 3 amigos have popped up only once since I bought my truck, and the dealer told me when I bought it that it was throwing the shuttle valve code. Gonna do my first oil change sometime this afternoon so I can start my maintenance baseline. I looked under the truck a couple days after buying it, and luckily, the PO had the driveshaft rebuilt at some point.

I consider my self pretty fortunate, this Disco II was actually on the lot at the LR dealer for a couple months as a certified pre-owned LR priced at 19,999 but it never sold so they sent it to auction, the local Saturn dealer picked it up and I bought it from them for 13,999. Of course I had to pay a little extra for the extended warranty but overall Im am very happy with the deal I got, especially after talking to the LR dealer and finding out that they have done all the recomended service on it and did have it as a certified on their lot for a time.

I have not seen the 3 amigos since that initial time they come on, and the brakes did squeal a little when they popped up. At any rate its getting looked at tomorrow morning so if it is throwing a code I be able to have it rectified free of charge, what ever the problem maybe. I still need to crawl under and check for the front end out for the grease fittings, will probably get under their today.

One more question about the audio system......

Can anyone tell me where to locate the factory Amplifier so I can figure out if it has been removed as well. I see the bracket for the CD changer and the wire harness there seems to be intact and will be pulling the head unit to see that wire harness today. Also, do all Disco II's have the wire harness installed for the sub wolfers? I dont think I have subs in the rear hatch but would like to add those if they are not there. (nevermind, I found the subs, they are there, just smaller than I expected and I dont think they are getting the power they deserve due to the cheap head unit installed.)

Thanks again for all the help.
