Default NEW AND NEED HELP!!!!

I just bought my 2001 Discovery SE7. I decided to fly 1000 miles away and drive it home. Everything is going fine until the last 200 miles or so. First, all the windows stop working along with the seats. Then the cruse control, then the intermediate wipers THEN in the last 20 miles, the hill decent check light comes on. I have no clue, I did take a look at the fuses but from what I could tell they were fine.

Why don't you send me your tele number an a good time for me to call you. In the mean time, check clean and tighten all your battery and alternator leads.

BECM, $850+- to replace. I have seen used ones for $200 but than your stuck with the highest of the two mileages and who knows how long that will last. The place I bought it from is paying half (better than 'you bought it as is, your problem') so is it just worth if for me to pay $425 and know that I have a nice new dealer installed BECM?

Ok, so the dealer is on day three. The first two days were blown because no one could pick up the phone to get me or the other dealer to authorize the repairs to the Becm but what ever. Today I went down there and they were closing up for the day and my truck was sitting in one of the bays. The head tech said that the day I dropped it off everything started working again and then stop again. They have the new becm but apparently the guy that is doing the install and programming was having problems and was asking the head tech for 'ways to get around the problems'. Does this sound right or are they just back-burnering me and when I was quoted $850, are they going to be charging me more for the additional programming problems?
Thanks

Unfortunately a quote is just that, only a quote. However, they have to authorize any increase in payment through you before the job is done. It's sounds a bit fishy but wait it out. It is not an easy thing to find competent Land Rover techs imo.

Ok, than how about this... What would be the average time to program a new becm? And is there a stated book time that I can try to hold them to?

Wow, this sounds fishy. I remember a few years back I took an old Jeep Cherokee in for repair (not a dealer)& the mechanic (also the owner of the shop in Henderson, NV) said he had to install a new computer module. Well, 20 feet out of his driveway all of the old problems reappeared. His response was that they hadn't finished "programming" it. This particular item for that particular vehicle was hardwired andis not "programmable".
Maybe now, with the Rover Techs' RAVE system and TechBook or whatever it's called, your unitcan be adjusted but in my specific instance I'd beenjust plain scre...! I have a real fear of dealers, their service writers,& their greed. I could tell you all a real horror story about a Ford dealer in Tucson when I had my Mach I. Yikes!!
