Default New owner - used 2002 Disco

Hi all,

I am new here just got my '02 Disco today. It has 80k on it. Seems to be a nice vehicle.

A couple of things that I need to check into:

1 - When I use the button for my power locks...only the back passenger side lock does anything. The other 3 doors and rear door do not lock or unlock.

2 - I have the 3 Amigo's lit up....I have read where this could possibly be just brake dust. I have not tried cleaning it yet.

3 - My key. When I go to turn the vehicle off seems to get stuck in the position before the off position, I have to turn it back and forth a couple of times before I can get it to the position to release my key.

4 - What kind of realistic gas mileage can I expect? I will not be going off road. Just everyday driving

There may be a couple more things, but I cannot think of them right now.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

1-your door lock actuators are bad, common problem on LR's. www.roverlandparts.com
2-do a search on this forum for that fix.
3-pop the trim piece off of the shifter ****, tighten the nut that is in there, see if that helps. (its not going all the way into park)
4-you MUST use premium gas, 12-14 city 16-18 expressway. That is realalistic MPG.

I have removed the plastic piece. Where is this nut at? I have found 3 nuts that seem to be part of a mounting bracket. Anywhere I can find a picture of what I need to tighten?

Thanks,
DH

There should only be one nut in the middle of the shifter ****. It would be the middle nut if there is more than one.

Thanks Spike...I am pretty sure I know what you are talking about. I will post and let you know. Will probably be mid-week before I get to do anything

just so you know, if it hasn't all ready been done, you need to have the front driveshaft rebuilt asap with greasable U joints. If you don't it put a few aerodynamic holes in your transmission. Shouldn't cost more than $300. Welcome to the club
