I'm having the same issue. Foamy and still getting the sound.

I replaced the hose as well.

I'm also using tubing to bring the fluid back to the resevior.

I got the sound to go away when the wheels are straight yesterday but still getting the sound when the wheel is turned.

Next idea is to lift the front end so turning the wheel from lock to lock is easier and I'm hoping that does the trick.

Raining again today so may have to wait for a day or 2.

Please keep us posted, the foamy fluid is frustrating.

Yeah I will do that. Have you thought about using a power steering additive yet? Not a stop leak or anything but Lucas or something like it l.

If the groaning goes away when you are no longer turning the wheel, that is you have rotated the wheel and are finishing a turn. As opposed to initiating the turn it may be a bad pump. If you have bled it for an excessive amount that is what i would suspect next. I had a PS pump only last a few months, very low milage. These are pretty simple systems, if bleeding does not fix it, probably a pump. I have used Lucas PS additive, no real difference, but someone on this board recommended so I could not see the harm. I did put blue devil in several years ago and it did stop a leak, but it did start leaking a couple years later.

I had success today.

After struggling with the replacement pump (Amazon $70) I rebuilt the original pump. Not a full rebuild, I just replace the gasket.

After getting everything back together I lifted the front and had someone turn the steering wheel back and forth.

Finally got rid of the sound and not foam. Yes there was a little foam, must of been some still in the system but it worked its way through. I was using the 1/4 Inside diameter tubing to flow from the nipple of the steering box and back in the reservoir.

Glad you found a fix. I just ordered a new NAPA pump. I’ll follow your lead and install new gaskets in the problematic ones and have them on hand the next time it poos the bed.

Not sure if this is helpful or not, but I went through three new PS pumps last winter to replace a failed OEM pump and never ended up finding one that didn't have some kind of noise. I just decided to live with it. New parts supply is in a bad place right now for Discos.

That's I'm looking at installing a bmw pump. Same hose fittings, same mounting bolt location, same flange and pulley. Once i find time I'll order one to see if it works.

ps. If you are running foamy fluid through the system, internal components are not getting proper lubrication and you are risking damaging them.

Really? For what BMW model? What's the P/N?

Well it's an experiment, so nothing confirmed yet. Looks like pumps from early 2000s will work. The one i was looking at was from 325(?). There are several variants with pressure hose outlets in different positions, but i found one that has exactly same geometry as the disco one. I'll be at my computer on Monday, so i can look up what i have saved for testing.
