That sounds a lot like I started to design a couple years back. I never ended up building the bumper, but once I get my credit card paid off (from emergency vehicle repairs...) I might look into it again. I don't think I ever even proceed materials. I'd much rather have someone Lazer cut the pieces instead of cutting everything out of 1/4" plate with an angle grinder which is what I would have originally done. Probably wouldn't cost any more than the dozens of cutting discs I would burn through.

Charlie, I'd be interested to see those plans Mike sent you. Any way you could post them up for us?

I just came across a Safari Gard rear bumper and Gas tank skid today. I'm not sure what they're worth, I searched and found that the company doesn't exist anymore. Any input/interest?

Are they D2 Safari Gard bumpers? They were probably at least 1K back in the day. I've always wanted one of their original D1 front bumpers, but I've just never come across anyone that wanted to part ways with it. I have the Safari Gard rocker guards on my Kalahari and they're very high quality.

Safari Gard made some great kit back in the day, they just seemed to have issues running a business.

Yea they(rear bumper and fuel tank skid) came off of a D2, a 2002 to be exact.

That's about all that I have gathered from my research. It's sad to see a company that makes a good product go under by their own doings.

Thoughts on a reasonable asking price? I have no desire to cut my quarter(what's the in metric lol) panels.

Yeah I had the chance to grab an RTE rear bumper for 100.00 once, but I just didn't want to chop the rear of my D2 off that much. I like the basic steel bumper replacement for 435.00. I don't go thru terrain where my lifted D2's big Jennifer Lopez booty gets grounded before the hitch takes the grunt of it.

I am in the market for another steel rear bumper as yes when I heard the famous snap crackle pop on my 99 D2 a few weeks ago she's now got a small 2inch crack starting which is the beginning of the end for it as we all know.

I might be interested in the Safari Gard bumper. I stepped on my rear bumper to access the rack and cracked the stock one. Would go well with my SG sliders.
