Default New shock absorbers - recommendations.

My existing shockers are 120K miles old (11 years also) and behaving a bit tired. I've been looking at some Terrafirma All Terrain shockers to replace them for everyday use both on road and some offroad, about 80/20. Are there any differences in types available and are they OK for mostly on road use. Your opinions would be invaluable.

I like my current TF ones just fine. Had bilsteins on a couple of d2 set ups.. I liked those a lot. All are a huge improvement on worn ones. Never tried the ome shocks, though.

You might consider changing out the springs as well, putting new shocks on worn sagging springs will wear out the shocks much faster than normal plus you will still notice the effects of old springs on bumpy roads even with new shocks after a short time.

Hi

Thanks for your advices. Do these shockers come in different types or grades? I am requiring standard height and use like these, I assume Land Rover Discovery 2 Terrafirma Front & Rear Shock Absorbers | eBay if they are far harder or much different it might create an issue.

My truck is SLS but without ACE but I'm not sure whether that makes any difference.

I found 4 Bilstein's used (10K mi) from a reputable member of this forum. Saved over half and you couldn't be happier with their performance, but I'd never buy them new. Check the classifieds...if that doesn't pan out, TFs are probably the best bang-4-$. AB is having a sale on them through Monday BTW.

Thanks Dan. I like Bilstein and ran them on my Caterham 7 race car. The other option was Koni which were on my F2 Pilbeam. Both are good but seriously expensive that is why I was looking at Terrafirma as an option. The LR OEM shockers are hugely expensive and probably fit for purpose but very ordinary and mass produced in bulk down to the last cent for LR. I will go with the Terrafirma shocks as they appear value for money as you say.

Would it be a good idea to buy the Terrafirma road springs that should, in theory, match up with the shocks. Has anyone used these as well.

I've been running the TerraFirma All-Terrian shocks for the last 2-3 thousand miles. I've been happy with them. This has been all on road though. I haven't had a chance to get in any off road time with them yet.

I've ran OME and Blingstiens and like the Terrafirama better so far.

I'm running new factory LR springs on the 110 so I'm no help there. I have a few terrafirma products and so far they have all been great. Bumper, trailing arms, overhead console and the shocks.
