And I have seen diesels throw a rod at 150k.
Fuel lubricity has nothing to do with it, all that lubes is the injectors and injector pump.
It goes directly into the engine and no where near the intake valves.
Your Jetta TDI lasted 324,000 miles, my Ford Triton V8 with 375,000 miles is still going strong, it smokes like a chimney fire, but its still running.
