agree about the grabbers , but why 255/60 instead of 255/55? and what's the tradeoff involved vs. 255/55?

I just put on the grabbers AT2 in 255/55 and would like to know the difference as well.

more sidewall. 18" wheels ride harsher then a 16" wheels with a 75 ratio sidewall.

if you are sticking with a 18" wheel get all the sidewall you can and you will see the ride comfort change a lot

I just put on a set of Cooper Discoverer ATR's 255/70/16 and so far really like them. Quiet on road and seem to have good manners. Have not been off road yet, but will give them a try this weekend after I put on brakes. Not sure if available in your size.

I am using the same brand and tire size your using, but don't be fooled by the quietness, mine are pretty loud now, I put 15k miles so far. They're pretty good offroad, but the traction on the wet is not as good at mud tires. I was shopping for MT tires and steelies, but since my engine tick has gotten louder, wheels will have to wait.

My two cents on Pirellis. I bought my Disco with 33K on the clock. Part of the deal when I bought it from the dealership was they replaced all tires. Land Rover of Tulsa, OK installs Pirelli Scorpion Zeros on everything used they sell.

Fast forward 38K miles and I just replaced those Pirellis with Toyo Open Countrys. The Pirellis were done. I regularly rotated them every 6K and 95% of my driving is highway. I had my allignment checked when the new tires were installed and everything checked OK.

The LR dealership in San Antonio, TX said they've seen Range Rovers come in needing tires at 25K. They blamed it on the weight of the vehicle and the full-time 4WD.

I'm hoping my Toyos give me more than 38K miles because I just paid off my Disco last month and plan to drive it for many more wonder years. I'd never consider getting rid of it.
