After doing all that work you should have gotten rid of the orange coolant (Dexcool) That stuff will clog up your cooling system with any contact with air.

Also surprised that nobody yet has mentioned the high fail rate of aftermarket thermostats. Motorad being the worst. Buck up and spend the $70 on the LR 180 degree model from Lucky 8. I have recently read of one of those being bad out of the box, but L8 exchanged it for free.

I blew a water pump with a factory t stat and put a britpart on and will be going back to a factory 180 thermostat like I had previously. They seem to bleed better and maintain temps better. There is also the inline mod a lot of folks have done but I'm still waiting on the folks from megasquirt to get back with me on their tsat. I've called and emailed numerous times and still no luck

 

Well I did exactly what I didn't want to. I dropped it off at my Rover guy. I'm going out of town tomorrow so I'll have him check the head gaskets and do a pressure test. I ordered the tstat and will put that in when I get back.

I thought you should only use the dexcool because the green coolant rusts out the radiator. Thoughts.....

Anything else i should have him check out??

That was me and yes... Lucky 8 100% took care of me and quickly sent out another to replace it.


I am going to keep the one L8 sent me as a spare because the LR already has a 180 thermo in it.

The back story on my se7 is the past owner rear ended a car with a bike rack and had some front end damage. He had a new radiator, water-pump, and tstat put in. However the fan on the outside of the radiator for the a/c is missing. I know that will make a difference on engine temp if running the a/c but not while doing 65 on the highway on a 65F day.

I ended up getting the L8 tstat. Well see how she does and I'll let you all know what my rover guy says. (Blue Ridge Rover Works, Asheville, NC)

 

Well LR03NJ was right!!

The t-stat that was put into my Disco was from NAPA and was in fact for a Range Rover. Which my mechanic told me runs hotter than the Disco.

I got a new t-stat from Lucky 8 and she is now running perfectly. 187 on the highway and peaked out at 197 when off off road the other day with my kids.
