Default new used fuel pump

Okay so I replace my fuel pump yesterday and that used 1 I got Is it a lot better shape to know when I pulled out. but now my car doesn't fire up right away as soon as I turn the key. like it used to. now it takes a couple tries to get it to start on the parade if I keep starting my truck like this im gonna burn up my starter? what do you guys think could be causing this? What do I need to do?

You put in a failing pump or you screwed up something with the install.

Since the D2 pump is pump/filters/and pressure regulator all in one, you could also have a "good sounding" pump and bad other part, like regulator. On a D1 those are all separate parts in other places.

So where's a good place to get a new pump and assembly? I was afraid you guys were going to tell me that I put in a bad pump

How about saving your self some money and going to Advanced Auto and buy an AirTex pump motor, not the entire assembly for under $80.

Try this to see if the fuel pressure is bleeding off. Before you start the truck, turn the key to the start position (All Dash Lights Are Lit) but do not crank it. Turn the key back to the off position. Do this three times in a row. Now try to start it. If it starts right up... The fuel line is not staying pressurized. Replace the entire fuel pump assembly. If it's still hard to start, the pump is bad - Just replace the pump with the part# Disco Mike suggested.
