Hey Disco people


I have made the switch to a land rover discovery after a lifetime of driving saabs- I hate the new Saab suvs and needed to get something to lug our new twins in. The problem, after a great first 8 months with this car is that a couple days ago the rear gate flew open whilst I was on the highway. It can't be fixed and I'm hgoing to need to find a new rear door. Any ideas? I found a good looking website for a biz in Florida that dismantles lightly used salvage rovers that has these gates for 600 bucks which is about half the price the dealer quoted me..........

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this without depleting the beginning of our twins' college funds?

That's highly unusual to hear the rear door opening while on the highway- in any case, I would highly recommend www.roverlandparts.com

I'm assuming you're talking about them as they have the rear tailgate for $600.

I've bought parts from them before and they are great! They package the parts very well and ship quickly. I recommended my rover friends to buy from them. If you call, they always take the time to answer any questions or concerns about any particular part.

Definitely, they will save you money. The parts are reconditioned and look brand new.

I would also suggest you buy another set of hinges and also inspect and clean the rear latch.
