Default Rear gate stuck

The rear gate on my Disco is stuck shut. The handle quit working and I have no idea how to get this apart so I can open it. Any suggestions?

Does the handle on the outside move freely? If not, use a flat head screw drive and pop up the Land Rover emblem on the handles plastic housing. Yes this seems weird but it works. Then shoot some oil on the pivot points. If this doesn't work pull the inside panel off and you can access the lock and unlock manually to see if the lock is bad.

Yea it's the handle on the outside that's jammed...and the one on the inside won't open the door now, so damned if I know what's going on...

So pull the emblam off...I pulled it back a little today and didn't really see any holes...I'll give it a try

The whole logo covers a hole that you can use to access the handle mechanism. Hose it down with penetrating oil and/or WD 40, work it into the handle, and clean it up and you should be good to go.

X2 or maybe it was 3 ;-) the logo actually pops out pretty easy. Wd40 on the pivots will get you going again. Mine used to get stuck all of the time. Glad I got that tip!

That fixes it 99% of the time, make sure you also lube the door stay on the bottom of the door.
Do these things every 6 months to avoid future problems.

speaking of the door stay....I did lube that a few months ago...but when I bought my truck it wasn't attached and the stay was just folded underneath the door. Well I finally figured out there was a arm that should be there and got it lubed and worked out, but the "bolt", "****", whatever it is, that the arm attaches to is rusted out so bad I can't tell what it once was. It's just a rusted post now. Anyone give me a name for this thing so I can replace it?
