Default Newbie & Lugnuts = ???

I'm trying to do my research before I buy anything. One question that I can not find a simple answer on is: What makes the lugnuts so special? I understand that the Factory wheels are hub centric (same as my old Superduty which had flat seated nuts).
Are the factory nuts only required with the factory wheels? If a truck had "normal aftermarket" steel wheels is it safe to assume that a normal 14mm lugnut would work?

Sorry for the newbie question

Depends on the wheels you have, if they are from Rovers North, Atlantic British ect. I'd say stick with Rover lugs, are you saying you don't have any?

The factory wheels are not hub centric. What causes problems with the factory lug nuts is the tin cover over them that will stretch and distort when using an impact sock with the wrong size socket.
You can't use the factory lug nut with steele wheels and there are steel lug nit available pretty much every where.
Make sure to always torque the wheels to 102 foot pounds.

also, when you do break down and go and buy land rover lugs make sure you get twice as many as you need and a scale or balance that can read gram resolution or better...

i've found the lugs on any given disco2 can weigh +/- 7.5 grams.

that's a half ounce window...! over time this will cause uneven wear on the tire... you're other option (and i don't know if or where to have it done... is to balance the tires ON the car

Default lug nuts

Disco Mike Are you saying that I can put any lug nut on? The tin around mine are shoot from the PO, I almost didnt get them off when doing a brake bleed and I am wanting to replace them with something that hopefully doesnt have the tin cover.
