Default Newish owner - thank you note

Recently bought a 124k 2004 SE and wanted to share my experience. I bought my truck site-unseen from Extinct in April ‘22. I’ve never met him but had seen him on the forum and took a gamble. (Turned out to be a great gamble!)

Before the transaction, he was a great to work with - he was still completing final work and shared lots of details via email/text. Always prompt and courteous. Really went out of his way to answer all my questions and customize things to my needs. Sale was a piece of cake. I mailed a check, he helped get truck loaded on a trailer and shipped to me. (I set up shipping, but Extinct worked with the guy the day-of and sent pics to calm my nerves.)

Since receiving the truck, he’s been available to answer my many questions. He truly knows his stuff and his replies are always detailed and extremely helpful. There were a few minor details that needed sorted initially, like sunroof motor replace, leaking windshield fluid reservoir, seized AC fan. Extinct sent me parts, at his cost, and walked me through the changeout process. He even offered to fly 900 miles, on his dime, to help diagnose a suspension clunk and work on the truck with me.

I declined his amazing offer, but he’s been there for me anytime I need Rover help. Video chats, calls, texts. I’ve had a lot of fun with my little wrenching projects and couldn’t have done them without his guidance.

6 months later, and he’s reimbursed me on a couple things (track rods and steering damper to fix lose steering, new windshield to replace leak.) Last week he mailed me a new thermostat cause I’ve been getting CEL and code P0126 and he walked me through the change out. Easy-peasey and now all is well.

To be clear, reimbursement was his idea. He expressed his sincere feeling that the truck should have come to me fully sorted, and he has followed through by being extremely helpful with his time and money.

Extinct is the real deal. A gentleman Rover enthusiast and an asset to the forum. I consider him a friend. If you have the opportunity to buy one of his trucks, do not hesitate.

My truck is a beaut and more fun to drive than my new X5 or my sporty cars. Honestly, it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made, in large part due to the experience Extinct has provided.

Thank you Extinct!!

Glad you are happy, most extensive restoration I ever did and still a few delivery issues. Learned my lesson though, will never pre-sell another one

I got lucky then. The truck is immaculate, inside and out. I love all the improvements you made and I get compliments regularly. It's awesome.

had her offroad last weekend and couldn't believe how impossible it was to get her stuck. Ie, I didn't get stuck. And I'm still on the all season tires. ATs are on the way!
