No amount of bleeding is fixing the water fall sound coming from the heater core.

"I put the bleed screw back in while it's running steadily, so there's no instance where I can fill through the bleed port."

I'm still not sure the OP figured out how to fill through the bleed hole when the engine is cold. WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD, not while it's running.

I've fought this same thing for months, still dealing with it. Not a clue why I still get waterfall sound, I've tried everything.
Someone mentioned the cooling system "sucking" in air. I'm not sure how that's possible when it's pressurized when running and hot.

If there were a leak in the cooling system air could suck in when the engine is cooling down. do you get the pffft sound when you open the system when cold? as in it is still under pressure?

Not to hijack the thread but all this info is good for anyone having the same info.

Yes, I do get a little "pffft" when opening the bleed screw in the morning when dead cold. Hard to tell if it's blowing a little air out or sucking it in though. I still top it off either way.

Welp. Problem FREAKIN SOLVED. You guys and your advice to get a pressure tester was exactly what I needed to do. I went to OReilly's rented a pressure tester ($0 btw as long as you return it), hooked it up, ran it to 14PSI, and low and behold, seeping an ever so slight stream... the lower hose that connects to the thermostat had a slightly loose clamp. Tightened up, bled, went for a drive. Temps are 5 degrees lower and there's no more water fall noise.

Also, before you guys comment about how obvious it is that there's a leak based on the dried coolant everywhere... that's also where the bleeder hole drips all over and since I've been bleeding a lot this week, that sort of hid the issue.

Anyway, can't sing the praises of a pressure test any louder.

You may be surprised, I had an '04 that had a loose right front passenger front pilar plastic cover that was the culprit. I fastened it on tightly and the sound never returned. It was creating a draft to the inside of the car. I too started at the coolant system and nothing I did worked. Check your pillar cover.
