Default No Headlights 2002 Disco 2

Something strange has happened to the headlights. They don't work at all and there is an odd clicking sound (very much like the sound of the ABS module when activated...

Me thinks it's a relay of some sort...

Any thoughts?

You are in Canada, correct? (and your Disco normally has Daytime running lights activated when you shift into gear then, correct)?

Does it click when you are in PARK with the headlamps off?

When there is a problem with the DRL resistor behind the LF headlight you will get this rapid clicking (that's pretty loud) from the interior fusebox under the steering wheel.

This could be the problem.

Have you done any work around the LF headlight assembly recently ? I would remove the headlight (easy, 3 tabs you slide over), reach down and disconnect/reconnect the wiring to the resistor (a bit silver metal thing), maybe that will do reseat a connection and fix the problem, if you're lucky?

You might also just be able to code the car (Nanocom or similar) to turn off DRL and it may fix the problem too.

It could also just be a bum / bad passenger compartment fusebox.

See attached for some context.

Yes...It's Canadian (with DRL). I noticed a problem with the LF DRL running dimmer that the RF DRL lately...

Yes...The DRL normally go on when I put it into gear...

It does not click when the vehicle is in PARK...Only when I put into gear...

Thanks!

...I'll have a look behind the LF headlight

I've taken the headlight out and located the "big silver thing" resister. I unplugged it and everything works properly now...except, of course, the DRL. They are non functional...which is fine for now. I can use the main headlights all the time.

You're saying I can reset the resister by plugging it back in? I will do that and see if it fires up the DRL again.

If this doesn't work, are new resisters available?

Roversnorth might have them, any wrecker with a disco near you would have it. You can also get a kit from CDN tire

Glad this worked for you! I got one from a pick-n-pull for 5 bucks or so, I'm sure they are on ebay too.

I chased this on my truck for a whole day once.
