It would seem like a waste to sell your '03 after you've added a lift and winch, plus all of the other accessories you have added. I say run with what you got with a few additions.

Out of curiosity, why would lockers not work without CDL, I see Jeeps all the time with Lockers?

I guess if you had a locker in both axles, with no CDL, when the going got really tough you could have a 2WD truck with a locked axle. Whichever locked axle loses traction, ALL torque from the transfer case is going to go to that axle, so both wheels on that axle are going to spin freely at the same speed (locked) while doing nothing to move the vehicle because of traction loss. Meanwhile, your other locked axle, which may have great traction at the time, is going to sit there lazily.

I suppose on a DII, if your amigos aren't present, ETC would kick in and make things better, in theory.

Is the suspension really that much different from a D1? i have changed the shocks, steering, and springs. I know I don't have the cdl, but I would bet there are lockers available out there somewhere for this rear end.
It's beginning to sound like I should be searching for a D1.
Again, I ask, why get rid of the 02's?
As for the lockers, you can not run lockers, of any kind, without a CDL or one of two things will happen, they just won't engage from an open t/case or they will gernade.

One thing to consider before removing emissions equipment is that many off road areas around the country require vehicles to have current registration which means they have passed emissions inspections.

I'm with DM on this issue, why get rid of the emissions equipment? What are you expecting to gain by doing so?

When you lock a part time t-case into low range it locks both prop shafts together, in other words...lo range CDL.
