Thank you for the confirmation Savannah Buzz !block+sensor+spacer+nuts.
That is how I installed it. Twice! | Even bought a 2nd crank sensor to rule out a defective CKP - still no spark :-(

Fuse 14 under the dash, check for voltage there when ignition in position 2 and good fuse. Sends power to coils.

ECU grounds the coils one by one to fire the plugs. Check coil connectors. Not the plug wires.

Wire to CKP could be bad, can measure from ECU connector and it will look like some sort of short between connector c636 pin 32 and 46 for the ECU. ECU unplugged, metering toward plugged in CKP sensor. Maybe broke wire on sensor plug.

Alalrm light on at the dash cluster? Immobilized?

REPLY** CHECKED. Fuse is good.

**REPLY: Removed the overhead cam (not an easy task) to check coil. All coil connectors and module are connected tight....no loose wires/coil. <?> | Why would they put the module behind the engine by the firewall????

**REPLY: You lost me there.

**REPLY: Not immobilized | DASH alarm light not ON.

The CKP sensor is just a coil of wire around a metal pin. If read with an ohm meter, it should exhibit some resistance, not a dead short, and certainly not an "open circuit". More pages from Bosch manual attached. The coil resistance would appear between pins 1 and 2 of the CKP connector, the black with yellow and the pink with black wires. The solid black wire is the shield ground, should read open between that and sensor wires.

Checked the OLD CKP's OHMS and it's dead. Checked the 1st (NEW) CKP's that I bought and about to return and has OHMS reading and produces numbers. So yes - there you go my old CKP is f*up.....but the new ones should work just fine....

Hey Guys,

Does anyone have any tips on how to unplug the CPS from the harness, I can see the the plug but I can't get my hands on it from either the top or bottom.

Pictures won't help,a long double jointed wrist and elbow do wonders, other wise, be patient and it will eventially come loose.

Sad to say that I am sending my DISCO to an indieshop = NO SPARK issue remains the same after changing crank sensor twice. Same behavior.

Thanks for the thread guy's! I had same issue on 2002 Disco. Died on road, Started after a few minutes and got it home. Shut off and no start, then later got a start. My past experience with a 7.3L Stroke told me Cam shaft position sensor. Read post got the Crankshaft sensor instead. installed next day. Evidently I'm the "don't read directions close enough" 1/2 Buzz. Put it in wrong. Racked brain all night and re-read post. Took off Mud guard and walla! fixed and start. Now keeping fingers crossed and anyone else on this post in the future, block+sensor+spacer+nuts
