Cool no start in park....??

I recently rescued a 2000 D2 from the junkyard (and crusher)......could have driven it home, except I didnt want to take the time to get the tags & insurance. So I've been working on the few issues to get it road ready .....one of which is no power to the starter when the trans lever is in park, shift out of park.....pick any other gear, and she turns over fine...starts up.
Any suggestions ??
& thanks for your input.......

Move the shifter toward the front of the truck - put pressure on it and see if it helps.
I am not sure if the XYZ switch controls the park enable / disable.
Others will chime in to correct me - as they should.

in any other car I would say its a bad neutral safety switch, I believe LR has combined it in the XYZ switch (which is adjustable) left side of the tranny
