Default Noisy Breaks

Hi everyone,

So I'm having an issue with my brakes giving off a fairly loud squealing noise on my '04 Discovery and I'm hoping someone might know why. Last November I had my rear brakes/rotors replaced and just last month I had my front brakes/rotors replaced. I figured this would get rid of the noise, and while it certainly helped reduce it, it still gives off a loud squeal every so often when I brake. Any ideas why? I need to replace one of my rear suspension airbags as there's a small leak in it, but I don't think that could cause the squealing noise could it?

Also, I noticed that the brakes seem to give off A LOT of brake dust, as my rims are always black and they never seem to stay clean for more than a day or two after I wash them. Does anyone else have this problem and/or could it be related to my noisy brake issue?

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

You need better brake pads.
Cheap pads will be louder than hell and give off lots of dust.

The SLS has nothing to do with it.

The pads I got though are directly from the Land Rover dealership...

That does not matter.
You can keep driving it and hope they "seat" and stop being noisy or you can buy some good ones.
You can try taking sand paper and roughing up both sides of the rotors and see if that helps.
That will speed up the "seating" in of the new brake pads.

I also have OEM brake pads on my truck and they have almost 50k on them and they are starting to get dusty.
I will need new ones in the spring.
