Default non start - no warning - STRANDED

after a short drive, parked 2003 DII and raised hood to check oil. When I went to leave, several hours later, NO START> Turning key brings One click, not a series, and no sound from starter. Had some issues with central locking, with unit locking all doors but requiring manual unlocking of driver's and rear passenger door. Just completed long trip, and need to return - in middle of Texas with no land rover dealer or service person nearby. HELP !!!!!!!!!!

Any lights on dash?

Had something similar happen to me on a road trip last week. Whole family was in the car. Dash lights was on, but car would not crank at all. Turned out wifey had accidentally activated activated the alarm mobiliser from the inside. The car would not start. We started checking everything. Fortunately, she realised her inadvertent mistake and reverse central locking. The Disco started right up/

I've had similar thing happen when I screw around with the fob. I have solved it by locking the truck and unlocking it either with the key or the fob. After unlocking it cranks right up.

When this happened to me a few weeks ago the XYZ was the problem, which in RAVE is called the starter inhibitor switch.

Bang on starter with tire tool. If solenoid is marginal it can make lights dim, no stutter, no crank. Also try lock/unlock 5 times in a row.

Also, just to rule it out, verify your battery voltage. Test on the Battery Terminals directly, then test on another place away from the battery to make sure your connections are good. I've had batteries die instantly before. It's rare, but does happen. Broken circuit inside or something.

I was going to mention the battery also. But then I thought, surely that would've been the first thing that was checked. Guess we better mention it anyway.

Default Success !!!! Thanks for help

Did the 1515 code, and, for good measure, changed battery - even though old one was an AGM less than a year old, and it worked. 700 miles tomorrow, thanks to all the help here. Did notice that battery cable is not totally tight on positive, so it may be part of the problem. When I get to civilization and tools will check everything.
