Have you owned a D1 with a body lift? I've had a 2" body lift on mine for about 6 or 7 years and not had any issues whatsoever. Plus it keeps the CoG lower.

you do have to drop the sway bar if you go 3"... i used 2x2 square tubing about 6" long to drop mine. At 3" i also had to put in new front driveshaft and extended brake lines but i would put new brake lines in iregardless of 2" or 3" lift

 

New brake lines would be good, ABS lines can just be repositioned to work with a 3" lift and a couple spacers welded to the front cross member will correct any drive shaft hitting issues.
Have you already rebuilt your front drive shaft?

I'm sett'n here in my lazy boy like a kid on Christmas morning waiting on the Fed Ex guy to deliver my +2" Terrafirma coils, shocks & steering dampener from mm-4x4. I'm told that this kit will absolutely deliver a true 2" of lift on vehicles featuring aftermarket bumpers and recovery wench, etc... I'm going to spell out my plan and if anyone has experience that can help me/us please share.

1997 LRD1, 4.0 V8 All Stock except Rebuilt Tranny (1 month ago), Specter cone style air filter.

1. Install coils & Shocks (+2")
2. Install Flowmaster exhaust
3. Install 1" wheel spacers
4. Install longer brake lines
5. Install 2" Body Lift (now @ +4")
I also need to know what i'll have to adjust other than the radiator. How about Gear selector shafts? anything else?
6. Install 2" fender flares
7. Mount 4 285x75x16 tires

Now, according to this plan, what have I forgotten? What is a "better" plan?This is a daily driver and will be 98% all highway use. Offroad use will be trailriding (no rocks)and light to medium mud mostly while at the hunting lease. Yes, this is mainly for ascetics. I do want to get involved in a off road club in my area (Houston, TX) in the near future when my time commitments soften.

Now that I have opened the boxes, I see two different types of coils. One pair seem heavier and about an inch longer than the other pair. Can I assume that there heavier & longer coils are for the front? Also the loops on these are closer together at one end than the other. Does the more tightly wound end go on the bottom or top?

 

I've had a 1 1/2" - 2" OME suspension lift and RTE 2" body lift on my '95 Disco for about 8 years with no issues.
Some people get away with a 3" suspension lift without issues, others have vibrations, and or steering/tracking issues which require a lot more investment to correct.
I wouldn't go over 2" (2" lift springs plus spring spacers has the same geometry effect as 3" springs).
