O2 sensors
So I get in two O2 sensors from Auto Medic Parts for the 2004 Disco. After getting the drivers side O2 sensor out, I pull the other end, connector plug, only to see that the one they sent me has female plug ends. These are for pre cat converter as well, errrr..closet to the engine compartment in other words. What the hell is that all about? The plug end up under it is also female end, do they know what they're selling or am I a dumbass?
So after talking to AB, they're saying that out of the factory, Land Rover, or Ford, mine being an 04', sometimes put the wrong connector on them, meaning they installed a female plug connector. JFC, drunk fackin Fort Brits.
The upstream O² sensor has a shorter wire (about 10 inches) than the downstream one and the connector is the reverse. Otherwise they are the same. If you don't mind doing a splice, you can use the old connector and part of the old wire on the new O² sensor. Just make sure to solder the spliced wires and use good quality heat shrink tubing to insulate them.
I called the place I bought them at and am going to return them. They're sending me out the post cat 23" long wired 02 sensors. I would rather not get into the wire splicing on these things. Now I'm wondering if the rear 02's have reversed plugs on them as the pre cat 18" long 02's wouldn't work. I guess I'll find out when I pull the rear 02's.
