Default odometer flashing

Just purchased my first Land Rover Discovery II 1999. The brake lights are not working (all out) and my odometer keeps flashing. Any suggestions where to start to get this corrected?

Thanks Mike

A shop with a good LR scantool (not just an OBD2 reader) can re-sync the ECU/BCM with the gauge cluster. Replace the brake switch with the newer style from Auto Zone for like 15.00.

That means a previous own swapped out the instrument cluster or the computer for whatever reason. Bottom line you now do not know the actual miles on the vehicle if that matters to you. Hope you got it cheap!

Maybe. Mine started flashing after a lot of water leaking from a bad windshield replacement. Leaked right above the BCU location and its not uncommon to get the sync issue when the BCU gets wet.

Anyways, I'm gonna have a local Rover mechanic resync mine. Nearly bought a Nanocom to do it myself.
