Default Off center/ full lock play in steering gear

Is it everyone, or just me?

On my D2, at center, there's no play in the steering gear and it's as tight as can be. No death wobble, or any weirdness, at any speed from 0 to Vmax.

At full lock, there's a bit of play. So much so that while reversing off of a curb or uneven surface at full lock, the wheels will actually articulate further towards lock of their own accord.

Some say it's a normal Disco quirk, some say it's not. It hasn't gotten any worse (or better) in the almost 4 years I've owned my truck, so what says the commentariat here? Thoughts?

So, no one else has play in their steering wheel when the wheels are at or near lock?
