Ohh crap ...... I'm an idiot
I made a post about my battery going dead just a couple of hours ago. Anyway I was out there trying to get the positive terminal off the battery when my hand slipped and hit into the small (wire like) expansion tank hose that goes underneath the fan shroud covering (across the top of the radiator). Anyway, the thing split open. Now I have coolant dripping out of it. Is it hard to replace this? After I replace it do i need to bleed the system? I called up the local LR dealer and they said they have one in stock for 30 bucks so I'm going to go get it. Please help me out ...... i need the truck this weekend. Thanks alot
No, easy fix. Just get your hose, get some new small hose clamps to attach it, too. Replace it, fill your coolant reservoir, remove your bleed screw at the top of the radiator hosesand hold your reservoir up about 6 inches. Once fluid comes out he screw hole, you're done.
Thanks alot for the quick reply. When I am bleeding the system should the car be off. I have heard that you should have the heat on but I'm not sure. Also I like to use the screw type clamps rather then the clip ones...... is this okay? Thanks again
When you are bleeding it, as mentioned above, tomorrow, when the engine is cold, again pull the bleed screw and fill the coolant bottle all the way to the top of the lid, and keep poring slowly until you have fluid coming from the bleed hole.
Mine broke when I was moving it out of the way to get the cover off. Of course I got pissed and stuff, but I just replaced it with a rubber hose and two clamps. Cost me about 4 bucks, haven't had a problem yet.
