Oil Pressure Gauge on D2
After ripping apart my 2000 D2 and seeing many mods I want to do and am doing, I would also like to add the oil pressure sensor. In the thread on adding a sensor to a 2003 D2, they mentioned the earlier years used an oil cooler and so the unused plug port on the oil pump/timing cover couldn't be used. Nothing was connected to my port. I do have an oil cooler, though. Why wouldn't I be able to use the port that has nothing connected?
to clarify the location I want to use for a pressure sensor, see the picture below:

Anyone see any issues with using that port?

I have a lot of information in my 100k mile service thread on installing my oil pressure gauge. In the top right of each post there is the post number. Look for post #86 and 87 in my thread. https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...o-month-47324/

I am cheap, though. And I can drill through the plug, tap it for the correct thread, and not have to buy the oil filter sandwich. I just want to know if there would be any issue doing it that way.
yes you can do that if you do a search you should find a post or two about it.
I two would vote for the sandwich adapter.
Sandwich adapters cost about $20 on ebay,
you will have that much $ in the proper tap and fittings, not to mention time.

I don't think that there should be any problem doing it that way.
that's how i did mine with no issues, just had to remove a few bolts to slide the skid plate out of the way to get to the plug.
Thanks
The setup from glowshift comes with everything except 1) a pod 2)sandwich adapter 3) extended wire harness (I used this but you can make your own)
1) Gauge ($59)- GlowShift | Tinted 7 Color Oil Pressure Gauge with Electronic Pressure Sensor
2) Sandwich Adapter 3/4 unf-16 ($29)- Oil Filter Sender Adapter - 3/4 unf-16
3) Extended harness ($5)- 7 Color Gauge Series Extended Sensor Wiring Harness
This is all directly from Glowshift. You might be able to find the parts cheaper somewhere else.
if you want to go mechanical you can do it for like $30.
