Default Oil Priming for First Engine Start?

Do you guys have any recommendations for the first time a junkyard engine is started as far as priming the oil? I assume filling the oil filter is advisable. I would also pull the fuel pump relay and turn the engine over for 30 seconds or so. But is there anything else that can be done before that to aid in eliminating dry start?

Thanks,
Bryan

That is about it. If you are replacing the gaskets then pour oil over the pushrods, lifters and valves.

With a used motor that was running before it was parked isn't as big of a deal as a brand new engine that's never been ran. Filling the oil filter and a few cranks is all it needs. Once it starts I would let it idle for a couple min and I would probably fill the engine with regular oil and drive it a couple hundred miles then change the oil to whatever you normally run.

Just fire that baby up and let it idle.
