Default Oil Separator

Anyone know what way the oil separator sits inside the valve cover? It has a flat end and a pointed end. And my valve cover has the cap on it.

It does not really matter which way you insert it. I had to trim mine slightly with a Dremel cut off wheel on the outer circles to make it slip inside the orifice. I also drilled out the the hole about a 16th bigger.

As a form of maintenance, consider spraying carb clean thru the tube on to the separator to prevent any blockage. I have done this once a year for the last 13 or 14 year and never had to replace it.
Also consider cleaning the t/body at the same time for better crankcase flow.

I see you bought a new one, so go ahead and use it ,
But by suggestion of one of forum members, I bought a FRAM pcv valve $3-$4(part# FV237) (I know purelator has similar part but forgot #)
And fitted it, never have to worry about clogging again, one of best suggestions,!!
You can keep your existing tube in place (without seperated piece inside) and cut small section of existing hose & connect from top of existing tube to bottom of FRAM pcv valve & rest of hose from outlet of FRAM piece to intake , fits perfect, and don't worry about it clogging for years, it has a one way valve inside,
I have to thank the member that suggested the conversion,..

No sorry, I don't have a picture, but procedure is so simple you can't do it the wrong way,, just instal the new fram PCV valve after the existing tube that is connected to valve cover, (reminder,, remove noodle separator from inside tube first),,
