In extremely cold temperatures 5W20 is what I have used to allow cold startup.

In CLT NC climate I use 5 W 30 in the winter and 5 W 40 rotella in the summer on the 04. On the others with the 4.0 L I use 15 W 40 and on the 2000 DII with sludge, I use 5w30 to keep the lifters quiet.
Well I am in Charlotte NC as well so I will go with what works for you.. Thanks alot...
