Default Ok, I just pulled the Codes, and there sure were a lot of them...

I scanned the ECU immediately after I found the data port, and got the codes. I erased them, and then started it and let it idle while I checked the ECU again. The codes that showed up again are marked as so.

Here are all the codes that showed up:

P0208 - Injector Circuit Open Cylinder 8 - Code popped up immediately after reset multiple times.

P1300 (and later P1319) - Manufacturer Control Ignition System or Misfire

P0308 - Cylinder 8 Misfire - Immediately/Multiple times after reset.

P0722 - Output Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal

P0300 - Random/Multiple Misfire (Random and Multiple times)

P0305 - Cylinder 5 misfire (Code showed twice on initial scan, but never came back after reset)

P166E - Manufacturer Control Auxiliary Inputs Auxiliary Outputs (showed up again after 4th reset and scan)

P1592 - Manufacturer Control Vehicle Speed, Idle Speed Control, Auxiliary inputs (showed up after 4th reset and scan)

This thing has more problems than Courtney Love. Some of the codes I couldn't find on troublecodes.net either.

Can anybody make heads or tails of it?

How many miles on the engine, what octane gas are you running, when was it last tuned and was it with wires?

112,749 miles. It's immobile at the moment due to a (now) removed front driveshaft, and hole in the transmission. Plugs and wires were replaced 10/2/2008. The Plugs are NGK BP6ES, and the Wires are from STI Spark Transfer International. From what I can tell, the previous owner generally used Plus or Premium in it.

He just bought the truck for $1700 with a busted tranny, double cardon failed.
He has yet to drive it.
It sat for 6 months in the previous owners front yard.
Towed it home on a car dolly 400 miles.

Start with a tune up, plugs and wires, reset the ECU and then see what else comes up.
The no vehicle speed is becasue the tranny is bust.
Start cheap, tune up.

Thanks for filling in the blanks Spike. It was closer to 4 months though.

Should i tune it up even though it was tuned up less than 500 miles ago?

I would replace the plugs and then go from there.
I see no reason those wires would be bad, but you also need to ask why the plugs are so fouled after only 500 miles.
They dont get dirty from sitting.
Just thinking out loud here...if the wires were good then why are the plugs fouled?
Either bad/dirty injectors flooding the cylinders or bad wires causing weak spark or frequent short trips or a cold running engine due to a bad thermostat.
I still think that I would replace the plugs, just buy 'el cheapo's for right now, I think you need to get all the stale gas out before you put in good ones.
AutoZone has them for $1 each right now.
Once youi get it on the road and can drive it then put in good plugs.

damn I'd love an 03 or 04 part truck with a deal like that. I don't need a tranny or a driveshaft I just need the engine and then the spare parts (ABS Modulator would be nice, window and sunroof systems, mirrors, etc). It'd pay for itself the second the engine blew on mine. I'm on the lookout now
