RE: Which one to get, D1 or D2?
Ok I will jump in on this one, I own one of each, '95 Disco 1 and an 01 Disco 2. Like some one else said you can put the bigger wheels on the Disco 2 and some of them come stock with 18" wheels. I like the in cab CDL on the Disco 1 and let me tell you it makes a huge difference. My 95 rides much smoother than the 01. I like the climate control in the '01 and yes as someone mentioned the heated seats. If I were to sell one of mine I would probably sell the '95 however, my wife drives it and fat chance of me selling it. So I guess since we are both hooked neither of them are going to go anywhere. Good luck on your decision.

Any trim level xxx-7 means seven passenger. If it is going to be a work trk then stay away from the seven pass version, you lose alot of cubic feet in cargo room.
But basicaly you have three trim levels, base (no sunroofs), mid (sunroofs but no heated seats or leather) top (everything).
Mid and top have seven pass options.
And being British, where they do everything on the wrong side, different years have different trim levels and different standard options for each trim level depending on the years.
My '97 is the "SE" trim level and it has leather heated seats, dual sunroofs, wood trim and the upgrade Pioneer stereo with amp, subwoofer and cd changer.
Some models haveseperate HVACcontrols for the back seat, stay away from that if you can. The coolant lines that run through the roof to the back seat leak when they get old and it is a HUGE costly fix. Most just have it plugged after that happens and then the back seat looses their HVAC controls.
All come standard with a factory trailer hitch and you can buy a direct "plug and play" trailer wiring harness from www.AtlanticBritich.comfor around $60 and not cut any wires.
It is a standard 2" receiver hitch and I believe that both D1 and D2 are rated for 6500 lb towing with 500 lb tounge weight.
