Default One Man Brake Bleed

So I went to bleed the brakes and needed the tool with the check valve in the end of the hose and could not find it in stores. So I just used an old vacuum hose and a container with brake fluid in it to prevent air from coming back up the hose into the system. I did not want to pull my wife out of the house so I improvised. This seemed to work. I have drove it a couple times with no issues. And for those debating not bleeding their brakes( I debated never doing it) I had a good amount of black particles in the fluid that came out along with some nice reddish orange fluid. Anyways I used this broom pole with a towel to protect the seat and the seat adjustments to hold the brake pedal down. Sounds ghetto but it worked pretty well.

Love it! That's great!

I also used the jar with some fresh fluid in it and submerged the hose end into it. But I gotta try that broom trick, because it got pretty heated when my wife and I were yelling back and forth.

A wife will not do automotive repair without a good strong argument.

She will say - you are driving an old POS. Get a new car.

However, in the 12 year span - the wheels were cleaned before entering the car wash.
And, without brake dust cleaner solution.

And I did not clean them.

Guess who? It was a miracle.

i know this is an old thread, but I was trying to see if anyone had ever tried the one person bleed check valves or even that wonky looking pump thing as a solo solution to brake bleeding

I used this to bleed my brakes by myself, it worked great.

Amazon.com: KD Tools (KDT2538) 1 Man Operation Brake Bleeder: Automotive Amazon.com: KD Tools (KDT2538) 1 Man Operation Brake Bleeder: Automotive

Although I had to duct tape it to a piece of metal hanger to get the desired shape so the end would stick out over the pan, and not the inside of the rim

I like this old thread.
Thanks bigcraigman for posting it.

A bottle and a hose is just fine.
Simple is best.

you can also buy speed bleeder these days, they have a spring loaded check ball.
you loosen the bleeder and pump away, when you tight the bleeder the ball bottoms out closing it.

I too use this. Works great. Not sure how many uses you'll get out of it - one of mine was dead the 2nd time I went to use it.
