Default Oops - broken air filter housing clamp (pic)

I went to check the air filter on my new-to-me Disco and the clamp on the right (see pic - near throttle body intake hose - i think that's what it's called) didn't fully open as it was blocked by a radiator hose (see pic.) So, I decided to pull up in hopes of clearing the hose. 'Not a good idea! It cracked the molded plastic hinge on the cover. Oops.

Other than that, all the other clamps seem pretty tight and the hose sits at least 1/2" into it, so I don't think it will loose any significant suction, so I'm not worried much, but I will replace the air filter cover sooner rather than later.

I thought my BMW 325i was tight under the hood. The DII seems even more so.

Mine is the same exact way... Broken in the same exact spot... I bought it that way though... It doesn't throw any codes or anything...

Regards,

Yeah, I checked and no codes. My concern - other of losing intake suction - is dirt getting in through there as that would be post-filter, so that's why I'm thinking of replacing it "sooner rather later."

I had mine break like that too. I put a 1" c-clamp on it. It's been on there for 100,000 miles now. Not really the best way to fix it but it works.

Just fill it in. JMO. If it looks as small as it does in the pic.

Honestly, I have yet to see a Disco without that part broken. I tried to epoxy it on my last Rover ('03) but surprisingly it wouldn't hold. I would probably safety wire that clamp, can't imagine where it would end up if it came off!!!

Yip, my '03 as well, the PO practically destroyed the whole cover and air intake hose. I had to replace everything and got the air cleaner box and hose for under $100 on eBay. They are pretty scarce in a whole state though. The new parts cleared my error codes though, so I'm happy with that.
