Yeah I had planned on getting the falkens on my stock 18's but I just really wanted skinny tires

 

Maybe not in the Falkens but 255/85/16

 

Greetings from a fellow Portland Disco owner. Mine was stock, then I picked up a used set of Toyo ATII tires off Craigslist from a guy in Beaverton for a great price. They were 265 65 r18, and did fit fine with stock springs (springs that had even sagged around 3/4 of an inch). After running it up some logging roads around here, we never had any kind of problems and would have left it that way if I had not got a great deal on a Terrafirma 2 inch medium duty lift. I installed the lift, and it improved the look, and did not change the ride noticeably. Terrafirma extended travel shocks added too, ride is great, and the tires have been through rough rocks and offroad this last summer, and still did well on a 2000 mile drive out to Montana this summer.

 

Yeah, I've looked at a lot on that size too, but I couldn't find any of the same quality, for the same price, or that would last as long.

“If” you ever needed longer ABS wires in the back just go online & buy a cheap set 14.00-25.00 for a pair of front ABS sensors! Boom instantly have longer wires & no more worries. Honestly though it’s just two wires so technically “if” you used some good connectors you can extend them yourself as well.

I have 2 D2’s with 3inches of lift. One rides on 275/65R18’s while the other is running a set of 255/70R18’s. My steering returns to center, and they both pretty much handle the same with the exception that one of them has ACE. I removed the front support as it was in the way, and have had no ill effects for years on any D2 I’ve owned and used on/off road.

My 02 Kalahari has a 2inch lift that has now sagged a bit and I wish I’d have gone with a 3inch on it. The TF shocks have done excellent, and to keep the finish looking new I sprayed them with a few coats of clear coat before installing them to help.

I think the newer coils, new shocks improved all 3 of my D2’s and I think they handle MUCH MUCH better with less body roll than before with the worn out springs and shocks.

If you wanna feel sporty use the Sport Mode button, but if you wanna corner like the Stig, then you’re driving the wrong vehicle.

I live in Portland, and am familiar with Mt. Hood passes and coastal passes. I try to stay light because those passes are steep. IMHO, bigger tires = more weight to push. My rig seems the right height for what I need.

 

So for clarification. Alex are you saying a 265/65 18 will fit totally stock without issues.

 

I had that size on a stock D2. It looked stuffed, but it didn't rub with the larger turn stops.
