Default Outfitting 04 Discovery II S with wheels & tires

Folks, I am looking for input here.

I have read through the threads and see a LOT of information here. However, I am not a wheel/tire guy.

I want to outfit my vehicle with good wheels and tires for a daily driver. I've read several recommendations for swapping out the 16" wheels for 18". I've picked up that what I need is 5 on 120.7mm.

Question: Are there other things that need to be considered just to just to a set of 18" wheels?
Thanks,
JW

16's will offer you more tire sizes and cheaper tires normally. 18's have fewer tire options and are normally more per tire.

If you currently have 16's I'd just stick with them IMHO.

Thank you! I'd just prefer to not leave it to my local tire/wheel shop to decide what I need. They don't see many of these, some likely never have. This will work for my DD.

For a 2nd set of wheels for say winter when we are using the vehicle to get out on the "Field roads" to get to blinds, and if I understand correctly, the 16"ers will allow me a larger tire, providing more ground clearance? I ask because I am not sure if I will lift or not, or whether or not it will be done in time for trips to blinds.

You could slap on some 245/75R16's and not need a lift.

I'll take that advice and look into it.

If everything checks out on the vehicle, I was planning to add front and rear steel bumpers, a cargo carrier, Old Man Emu or TF springs and some nice shock absorbers. Based on your experience, and looking at the pic of your vehicle, would you do the Medium or Heavy load springs?

Medium but it depends on the actual setup and weight.

Keep the 16's! I had 18's and went to 16's solely for tire options.

Thanks fellas.... It looks like my home state is coming through for me. I appreciate it!

As far as the weight goes, I will be keeping 100 (?) pounds of tools in the back on a daily basis. When we take it out in the winter it will be carrying 4 people and be loaded with hunting gear.... likely another 200 pounds. so that might be 4 people at 800#+300#+steel front and rear bumpers, etc. That still lend itself more towards a medium spring?
