Default Overheating Engine

Hi! My D2 got its water pump recently replaced with a new one after breaking. After changing the pump and serpentine belt, and filled to the top of coolant it has started to overheat reaching over 260 degrees F. This problem didn't happen before. I have checked for leaks but there is none. I noticed the radiator is cold and the coolant is boiling in the reservoir tank. What can I to test or check what is going worng?

is the belt routed correctly? sounds like the pump is running backwards

Yes, the belt is routed correctly. I am currently checking it, some how I managed to restablish the flow through radiator but it still overheats. Any ideas?

Did you bleed the system from the "T"?

try squeezing/pumping the lower radiator hose and see if you can get it to suck in any more coolant.

Have you confirmed the thermostat is opening up?

No, I drained it through water pump because it was being replaced.
My suspicions are that the thermostat is stuck closed. Is there any way to confirm or test it without taking it off? I have squeezed all hoses to try to move it around.

you still have to bleed the cooling system....

take the overflow tank and lift it up

keep it above the rest of the cooling system

undo the bleeder valve on the T

add coolant until there is no more air coming out

just because you drained it through the pump doesn't mean it doesn't have to be bled

the thermostat is not stuck, it is probably covered in air

Yep, start with bleeding it correctly and go from there.

Keep in mind if you bleed the system correctly and you still have issues and your lower rad hose is cold and your over 200 degrees you may have gotten a bad Tstat

I had 2 bad ones and been hearing recently of people getting bad ones out of the box

i finaly had a good one from Atlantic British warm weather thermostat
