So, i've been getting this code for the last couple of months. I cleared it and it stayed off for at least two months, it came back on last week, cleared it and came back on yesterday. I wasn't clear in reading past threads what to check first or what parts I need to replace. Seems that P0160 and P0161 come on together in some cases but in my case I only have the P0160.

Have you done any work on the truck recently?

Check the right-rear O2 sensor to make sure it is plugged in all the way. It is mounted on top of the T-Case so you will have to reach up and over the front drive shaft to unhook it from it's mounting bracket. There is a small tab that you push up on the bottom of the gray connector and you can slide the connector off. If the plug looks good, follow the wire to make sure it is not cut.

If the connector and the wires all look good then you need a new O2 sensor. It's common to replace them in pairs so if you need a rear O2 then replace both rear at the same time. The front O2 sensors have orange plugs and the rear have gray. (Don't buy the wrong O2's)
